The ‘Kawazu-zakura’ Sakura was discovered in Japan in the 1930s and is known for its early bloom time. This vibrant pink flowering cherry is especially famous around the outskirts of Tokyo, where it begins blooming as early as February.
An interspecific hybrid between Prunus campanulata and Prunus speciosa, it produces large, single pink flowers that emerge before the leaves, creating a striking early-season display.
