The 'Kawazu' Sakura is a recently-developed early-blooming cherry tree variety from Japan. Its vibrant pink blossoms are well-known in Tokyo's outskirts, where they start to bloom slowly in February. This interspecific hybrid, a cross between P. campanulata and P.speciosa, produces large, single pink flowers before its leaves appear.
